Obama and Brownback -- Religious dimensions of their Candidacies

Robert Parham in an article posted at Ethics Daily, entitled "Obama Preaches Trial Sermon, Brownback Issues Pastoral Letter," points out that Barack Obama's announcement speech this past Saturday was akin to a Protestant trial sermon (as a pastor I know of what he speaks) and Brownback issued what appeared to be a pastoral letter via video.
Both quoted Lincoln and bemoaned the dividedness of the nation and both reached into the religiosity of the American people. Brownback appealed to the Great Commandment of loving God and one another. Interesting! We'll see how this all plays out.
