News Press Union Recognized by Judge

Last July a war began in Santa Barbara between the owners of the local daily newspaper and its staff. It's a conflagration that has spread out into the community as a whole. With an owner and an editorial page editor taking aim at just about everyone of any prominence (outside the owners tight social circle that includes bad boy actor Rob Lowe), the paper has become irrelevant to the community.
The judge has upheld the news room's union vote and has cast doubt upon the credibility of the management line. Now we await the rest of the story. I include two links for you. One is to a story in the Lompoc Record by a former News Press reporter, Sally Cappon, and to Craig Smith's report. Craig's blog has been an important source of news on this ongoing story that has made world wide headlines.
I look forward to the day when I can once again receive a well written, well edited, local paper. Until then I'll continue reading the LA Times.
