The Time Has Come

The hour is near. Decisions must be made, at least if you are a registered voter in any of the states holding a primary or caucus tomorrow. The course of the November election could be in the balance, though I don't think tomorrow will resolve the Democratic battle. Each candidate has their weaknesses and strengths. Some will tout their experience, others their judgment. The papers have weighed in, along with a growing number of politicos.

I have, as is quite evident, long ago made my decision. I believe that we are at a moment of transition for our country. Because of that, I believe we must look to a visionary leader who can inspire the nation to take hold of the future. Yes there are significant problems at hand, but we can't afford to elect a tinkerer.

And so, I believe Barack Obama's time has come. He is the insurgent, the outside, the one not supposed to be here. People will make something of his "lack of experience" and perhaps his name. Some will say, America's not ready for a Black President. Then shame on America. We've had women and Black Presidents on TV and in the Movies. The time is now to make the changes.

Is it risky? Of course there's risk involved. But going back to the 1980s (GOP) or the 1990s (Hillary) isn't the answer. Ronnie and Bill had their day, now is time for something different.

Vote tomorrow your conscience. And consider carefully the candidacy of Sen. Barack Obama!
