To the Finish Line

Giants 17, Patriots 14. Yes, the perfect team goes home from the 2008 Super Bowl with a blemish. It was close and it wasn't pretty, but the underdog won tonight. That's football.

Could the same be true in politics? Could the underdog come out on top? You have to play the game to find out!

The establishment candidate has the backing of the party big wigs, a husband who once sat in the White House himself, lots of exposure and the money, and thinks she she should be president. It's kind of "my right." But there's this insurgent, the one not expected to do much, but a candidate who has caught fire and has pulled even with her. Yes the polls say that Hillary and Barack are in a dead heat.

Now, Hillary is hoping that a Giant win prefigures her own (2 from NY). But, I think there's another scenario here. The Giants carry the ball for the insurgent, the unexpected, and that's Barack Obama.

On Tuesday, across the country, states will be going to the polls. My hope is that you'll join me by casting a vote for the future rather than the past! Vote Barack Obama, especially if you're living in California.

Unfortunately for the analogy, Obama picked the Patriots. Will tomorrow's tickertape parade depress voter turnout in NYC and NJ ? Will depressed Patriots fans in CT and MA stay home?
