Bible Meme

Over at Fr. Chris's Blog -- Even the Devils Believe -- I discovered this Bible Meme. He invited his readers to play along, so here goes! And if you feel led, try it yourself!
1. What translation of the Bible do you like best?
I've been a fan of the New Revised Standard Version for some time. I like that its inclusive in its gender language, has a traditional cadence, and is translated by top scholars. It also has the best study bibles available!
2. Old or New Testament?
As a Christian the stories and teachings of Jesus are in the New, so in one sense the NT is the foundation, but you can't have the New with out the Old, so with Fr. Chris, I'll say both. (And I say that coming from a tradition that in earlier years pretty much sidelined the OT.

3. Favorite Book of the Bible?
This is a hard one -- and its something that changes. But I think I'll say the Gospel of Luke.

4. Favorite Chapter?
2 Corinthians 5 and its promise of a new creation.

5. Favorite Verse? (feel free to explain yourself if you have to)
2 Corinthians 5:17: 17 --- "So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!"
6. Bible character you think you’re most like?
I think I'll say Thomas because I like asking questions!

7. One thing from the Bible that confuses you?
If it's not the Book of Revelation then its Ezekiel!

8. Moses or Paul?
Are we talking "law or gospel"? Or personality? You have to love Moses -- I mean he kept that group going in circles for 40 years!
9. A teaching from the Bible that you struggle with or don’t get?
Where do I start? There's Paul's discussion of election that leads so many into predestination. There's the stuff about having Joshua destroy the Canaanites. Then there's that talk about keeping women silent. Shall I go on? I think I'll leave it at that.
10. Coolest name in the Bible?
I love Zerubbabel!
