Eating Out at the Fly Trap

I'm a fan of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I've long wanted to eat at one of the featured joints, and today Cheryl, Brett, and I headed down to Ferndale and had lunch at the Fly Trap. Now that's a name for a restaurant isn't it?

If you don't know about Guy Fieri and his show on the Food Network, you've got to check it out. Guy finds all kinds of places that you'd never think of visiting, but places that serve great food. The Fly Trap is a little place and we had to wait about a 1/2 hour in 25 degree weather to get in, but it was worth the wait.

I had the Dago Red Omelette, which contained, besides the eggs, hot Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, onions, provolone cheese, and spinach. I'm not a big spinach guy, but this was a good dish. With that came garlic infused home fries. Now I love the home fries of Cajun Kitchen in Santa Barbara, but these are hard to beat. Of course, being that this was a breakfast dish, it came with toast and jam.

I say, thanks Guy and say, if you're in the Detroit area check out the Fly Trap on Woodward Avenue (near 9 mile) in Ferndale!

If you go to their website, click on the piece from the show. I didn't have the Pho Soup or the Salmon Burger, but if that's your thing, you'll enjoy it! Go early though!
