The Boss Endorses Obama

Although I'm more a Neil Young fan than a Bruce Springsteen one, I found it interesting that he has come out and endorsed Barack Obama. The timing is important because Springsteen's music has been an anthem for working folk. He has a sort of Blue Collar image. He's also from nearby New Jersey, which can't hurt in Pennsylvania.
He comments:

He has the depth, the reflectiveness, and the resilience to be our next president," the letter said. "He speaks to the America I've envisioned in my music for the past 35 years, a generous nation with a citizenry willing to tackle nuanced and complex problems, a country that's interested in its collective destiny and in the potential of its gathered spirit. A place where '...nobody crowds you, and nobody goes it alone.

Tonight is the next debate. With Hillary desperate for a huge win, and with the tone of her comments at Messiah College Sunday evening, expect her to come out swinging. As one pundit has made clear, her only hope is to go really negative and hope she can knock him out. She's not going to win this on points. Of course all this negativity could produce a blow back. Time will tell on that, but the all negative all the time persona will not wear well in the long run. Yes, it will tarnish Obama's image, but I don't think it will pull this out.
So, thanks to the Boss for the vote of confidence!

As both a Neil Young and Springsteen fan, I loved this endorsement. Now, we need John Mellenkamp to endorse before Indiana (May 2) and George Clooney and Billy Ray Cyrus and Ashley Judd (Kentuckians all) to endorse before Kentucky (May 20th).

I think Bob Casey's endorsement in PA really helped, despite the recent negative press. (One thing's for sure--if Obama can comeback through all this, he can REALLY handle McCain and the Rovians).
