The Call Came In

It is now official. After today's unanimous vote by the congregation -- I have been called to be the next pastor of Central Woodward Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Troy, MI. This is a major move for my family -- we leave behind the Santa Barbara area, where we've been dwelling these past 10 years. There have been many ups and downs during this season of our lives. Essentially we've spent the decade of our 40s in SB. Now we go to spend the decade of the 50's in Troy. It is quite possible that this will be my last call. So, it's a major change for us. But we're excited -- and that excitement is due in large part to the excitement that CWCC is feeling about this next stage of their life as a congregation.

We had not sought out a Michigan call. It wasn't even on my radar screen, but then the call came and the more we talked the more we realized that this was where we needed to be. So, we go, ready to take on a new adventure in ministry, knowing that the Spirit of God is going ahead of us and with us.

We ask your prayers and thoughts as we get ready to move during these next 10 weeks or so!

Congratulations and prayers for all the stuff that happens in such a transition. Now that you'll be just one state over I'll have to check out a service sometime.

You know it's where you belong when you refer to it by its acronym and you haven't even started there yet. Blessings to you at CWCC.

Just as I would have loved everyone to come to Lompoc, the same is true in Troy -- at CWCC. I guess you're right Danny, it's where I belong! And Dwight I look forwad to meeting you!

Oh, and I'll keep blogging, perhaps not as much at first, but I'll remain regular.
Congratulations. I pray this ministry fits your family and your new church family.

May the Lord lead your way - bless your family, empowering to addapt and overcome the commom difficulties that those changes bring.

As son of an Army man, I know what is to be assigned to different places. But looking back - it was always a blessing!
Congrats, but prayers for such a big move. Now, you'll be a Midwesterner!
