Speaking Against Racism

There is an undercurrent of racism that continues to infect the presidential contest. At times it's subtle, and at other times it becomes quite overt. One needn't support the candidacy of Barack Obama to recognize that if race is a factor in the campaign, then our nation isn't where it needs to be. If you support John McCain or another candidate, fine, just don't do so because the color of Barack Obama's skin.

AFL-CIO leader Richard Trumka offered an impassioned defense of Obama and called out those who would reject his candidacy because of race, especially those who are part of the union movement.
