Detroit Churches Fighting Blight
The pictures of Detroit can be heartbreaking. Empty homes, factories, hotels, and more. But all is not bad news. I was impressed by the story that comes from CNN about a number of churches, all are black churches, that are reinvesting in the community. It is true that at this time the government in Detroit is largely broken -- though even there there are signs of hope.
But we need to lift up these glimmers of hope that are emerging from the churches -- investing in businesses, homes, even a historic golf course, lifting the burden from the city, and giving opportunities to the community. According to their own assessment, these church leaders believe that they are behind other communities. Still, I think they deserve to be commended!

Not to worry, they may meet Troy going the other way.
We should show we're behind them.
