Sarah Palin -- What's She Thinking?

Sarah Palin has announced her resignation as governor -- some story about being a lame duck or such. Consider Arnold Schwarzenegger -- he's a lame duck -- I'm sure he'd love to get out of the mess California is in right now, but he's sticking with it. Jennifer Granholm has been mentioned for several Administration positions, but she's not taken any and has stayed the course despite overwhelming problems here in Michigan. Yes, Janet Napalitano and Kathleen Sebelius left governorships -- but as popular governors -- to take cabinet positions. Well, every governor that's termed out is a lame duck -- same with a President. So, on the Friday before the 4th she announces, I assume hoping no one notices -- that's what people do when they give an announcement on the eve of a holiday, they seek to bury bad news.

Now, I'm no fan of the governor of Alaska, but I do think that this shows that while charismatic, she's erratic as a politician. She can energize the base, but shows she's unable to lead. She was popular in Alaska, while oil prices were surging and oil revenues filled the state coffers -- money she could give away (like emperors giving away bread). Now prices have dropped, the revenues, have disappeared and she has to stand on her own. So, as the job gets difficult, she quits to write a book and do speeches in the lower 48 -- something she was doing, and gaining great criticism for abandoning her job in Alaska.

Some suggest that in doing this she frees herself up to run for President. Well, even if she finished her term she would have 2 years to get a campaign up and running. But, just so I don't look partisan, I'll let Ed Rollins speak for me -- this shows here to be totally inept as a leader and a politician.

I like Sarah Palin. I want her to have a successful life. That is why I want her to get out of politics. Under our current system, it is impossible to solve the country's problems.

Any politician who knew how to solve the country's problems, and was willing to try to do what is necessary, would either not be elected to begin with, or would never last more than one term. Or, would be assassinated.

Thanks for your comments. There's more to the story and I think it won't be long until we, the public, find out what the real story is with SP. I am not a fan of hers and shudder to think that she could be elected to a high profile position again in this country. She's very nice to look at and there's nothing wrong with that. She loves her family and that is wonderful. But I hate to think about seeing her interviewed again anywhere, any time - she is not well informed and apparently not willing to "study enough" to catch up, although I seriously doubt than she can focus enough to be up against the great political minds of many of our leaders and the same great minds and education of many of our most prominent news reporters. I'm glad to see Sarah step out of the spotlight. I hope she remains there.

Sorry.. but this had me rolling on the floor:

She was popular in Alaska, while oil prices were surging and oil revenues filled the state coffers -- money she could give away (like emperors giving away bread). Now prices have dropped, the revenues, have disappeared and she has to stand on her own

--Is this worse than giving away money when you have no revenue?? California is now having to issue Confederate dollars (IOUs). Our budget deficit is projected at $1.8 TRILLION based on 8% unemployment.. most figure we will be 10% by end of summer. YIKES!!!

As for Palin.. I am conservative, but not a voter for her. She is a good "whip" for the party, but not a top ticket person. I believe Romney will emerge as the true leader when our economy is truly in shambles and there is a need for a business minded leader. My only defense of Palin is she does have $500K in legal bills from defending claims that have not proven to be true. Its really sad that we tar and feather people to this degree and when they complain we just say "stay out of the spotlight".

Chuck

Ps.. the whole California legislature should step down early!
