Sanchez -- No Hitter!!

As a point of privilege, I'd like to move away from my usual topics and note a piece of history. The last time a San Francisco Giants pitcher threw a no hitter I was just a few weeks into my freshman year of college. Randy Johnson was probably in elementary school back then. So, that was a few years ago. A number of pitchers, including Matt Cain have taken no hitters late into games, but haven't finished it off. So, here comes Jonathan Sanchez, a pitcher with lots of promise, but few results -- especially this year. -- and he throws a no hitter -- with no walks even. We've been expecting something like this from Cain or Tim Lincecum, two of the top pitchers in baseball, but not Sanchez, who just recently had been demoted to the bull pen.

But, had it not been for an error by third baseman Juan Uribe, Sanchez would have had a perfect game against the Padres. Quite something!! Congratulations.
