Gerald Ford's Faith

Time Magazine this week runs a story (at least on-line) concerning the depth of Gerald Ford's faith. I knew he was devout, but this story provides a more in depth discussion. He was greatly influenced by a man named Billy Zeoli. When given the opportunity to emphasize his faith for political benefit in 1976, as Jimmy Carter was being quite open about his own born-again experiences, Ford chose not to take advantage of this. For Ford, talking so publicly as a public person wasn't, in his mind, appropriate. It was this same faith that enabled him to grant pardons to Nixon and Viet Nam draft evaders.

Most interesting piece! Thanks to Melissa Rogers' blog for alerting me to it.
