La Opinion Endorses Obama

It's only 3 days until Super Tuesday. Things remain fluid. The Edwards exit is still being digested. While polls say one thing one day and another the next, the question ultimately is: who will come out on election day. At least in Santa Barbara, if high school students could vote Obama would win going away.
The one community where Obama has seemed vulnerable -- other than older women -- is the Latino community. So, when the largest Spanish language paper in the nation and 2nd largest circulation in LA overall endorses Obama, you have to think that something is changing. Time, of course, isn't on our side. But this is important -- perhaps even more important than the LA Times endorsement.
In the English language online version of La Opinion we read that it is Obama's consistent stands on immigration, including drivers licences that turned the corner.

We need a leader today that can inspire and unite America again around its greatest possibilities. Barack Obama is the right leader for the time. We know that he is not as well known among our community and while he has the support of Maria Elena Durazo, Senator Gil Cedillo and others he comes to the Latino community with less name recognition. Nevertheless, it is Obama who deserves our support.

By deciding between a woman or an African American as their presidencial nominee, the Democrats are making history. Barack Obama has the sensibilities of a man from humble beginnings raised in a multicultural home. He is the best option for a truly visionary change.

As might be expected, McCain gets the GOP nod from the paper.
