Scripture's Clear Familial Order

Chuck Colson, a man I once admired for taking his prison experience into pushing for prison reform has seemed to combine more recently the Nixonian political calculus with fundamentalist theology. That being said, his response to homosexuality in an On Faith posting needs to be addressed.
He writes:

Gay unions violate the natural created order in which man and woman join in holy union to bear and raise children. Homosexuality, like many other behaviors, violates this order.

I would not be free to change my mind since the biblical teaching is clear, as is the accumulated wisdom of centuries of human experience.

My further question to Mr. Colson has to do with scripture's and accumulated centuries of wisdom have to say about the relationship between a man and a woman. Although I believe that Jesus' message ultimately undermines patriarchy, if you take the Bible literally as to human relationships, then patriarchy should reign. Of course, that's the point within Conservative Evangelical circles --likely circles that Mr. Colson runs in.
So, if he wants to go to natural order of things, gay unions aren't the only things on the table.
