Ducks are #2 --- Championship Game -- here we come!

I must stop for a minute and regale in the thought that the Oregon Ducks -- ugly uniforms and all -- have reached the pinnacle of college football. They reached number 2, and at this point it really doesn't matter if you're 1 or 2. If you stay 1 or 2 in the BCS to the end of the season you go to the championship game.

Now, I realize that being number 2 has been hazardous this year. Teams seem to fall not long after reaching this spot. The numbers of teams who have held this tenuous position are legion. There are a number of traps that stand between Dennis Dixon and the Duck's achieving national glory. They've beaten Michigan, Arizona State, and USC -- and should have beaten Cal. But as we've seen this year, beating the good teams can be easier than beating the mediocre ones. But we will keep the faith and hope and pray the Ducks reach the holy grail of College Football!!!

Good luck when you finally play an SEC team. Teams do this every year. They get excited, then they finally have to play real a football team who acutally has atheletes on defense and they get a dose of reality.

I've gotten to the point that I really don't even care about a national championship. After somebody wins the SEC, getting "nominated" as #1 in the nation is like getting a consolation gift.

Mike,

Have you been reading from the Les Miles script. No one knows how this will turn out. Oregon beat USC, ASU, Michigan (on the road), and narrowly lost to Cal, which beat Tennessee.

I think the Pac10 is better than SEC folk would like to think!
