Second Thoughts about the Second Coming -- Launch Day
The day has come. It's the official launch day for Second Thoughts about the Second Coming: Understanding the End Times, Our Future, and Christian Hope. This book, which I co-authored with Ronald J. Allen, Professor Emeritus of Preaching and Gospels and Letters at Christian Theological Seminary, and like me an ordained minister within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Ron and I wrote this book because we often hear questions about the future and especially the Second Coming, but we've also noticed that it's a topic rarely broached in sermons and Bible studies, leaving folks in the pews with few resources. We offer this as a response. We try to cover most of the bases and offer a study guide to help congregations wrestle with the questions on the minds of so many, including the afterlife.
While the book is designed to be used in personal and congregational study, Ron and I wanted to provide resources for pastors/preachers in preparing sermons to accompany the study of the book. Those resources are available for download from WJK Press:
