Politicized Science -- What's new?

Should it surprise you that we would hear that the Bush White House has politicized the nation's science? I mean we already know how it has politicized the justice system, but now comes further proof that the Bush politicos censored and molded presentations on stem cell research, teen sex, and more.

In Congressional testimony, former Surgeon General Richard Carmona states that almost at every turn and in ways never scene before Bush politicos intervened and prevented him from fulfilling his job.

"Anything that doesn't fit into the political appointees' ideological, theological or political agenda is ignored, marginalized or simply buried," Dr. Richard H. Carmona, who was surgeon general from 2002 to 2006, told a congressional committee. "The job of surgeon general is to be the doctor of the nation — not the doctor of a political party."

In response to this testimony, the White House and its few remaining allies give a typical answer -- well maybe he wasn't up to the job. If he wasn't up to the job then why did Bush appoint him and a GOP controlled Congress approve him? I mean, whose fault is it?
