Shining Knight to the Rescue?

The Washington Post has an article that lays out Newt Gingrich's recent commencement speech at Liberty U in the aftermath of Jerry Falwell's death. With none of the front runners grabbing the Religious Right's heartstrings, the question is, can the thrice married Newt be the chosen savior?
Now I do believe in redemption, and perhaps Newt has changed, but is a many who tells his wife while she's in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery that he's leaving her for his mistress the kind of person the Religious Conservative is ready to back?
He is definitely heating up the religious rhetoric and decrying the growing secularism of the nation. Now when you look at America, you might wonder what he's talking about. The government seems to be in the hands of the Right, so what's the problem?
What do you think?

Did he really, geez, I never heard of that. As for the religious right. They do not need a new spokesperson, they are well and strong without one.

Yes, but they're not finding a true believer with the right moral foundations to be their standard bearer. They may not be as strong as they once were. 2008 will tell us a lot!

I think power of newt (or anyone) to galvanize the religious right must be do so without alienating the independant middle of the road people that swing every election.

What they right needs to survive the next election season is something to stand on.

Stem cells, abortion, gay rights, all fade into the background for most of america when they must justify going to war on what can easily be made into a pack of lies.

It seems to me that the best issue to run in middle america on is immigration, it seems everyone is trying to mess this up
