Longing for a Strongman?

Andrew Sullivan briefly posted about Rudy Giuliani and his attractiveness as a candidate. Sullivan has links to articles about Rudy's style -- which indeed is decisive and confident (of course that can also be said about GW at times) -- he would be a "benevolent dictator." In fact, he writes: "But Rudy is the real thing: a potential Putin-style president for the U.S."
I think many of us find Putin off-putting, but people in Russia find him as a kind of savior. People in Iraq are hoping for someone to step in and set things right -- as bad as Saddam was, he kept the crime down (except for his own). But isn't that the point of crime syndicates?
Anyway, back to Rudy. We will get what we're asking for if we elect him and we might not like what we get!
