Pope Francis continues to blaze new trails, focusing his attention on the needs of the poor and the marginalized. He's got a lot of fans, especially among Protestants, including lots of liberals. Even Jon Stewart likes him! Now Francis has his critics. Rush Limbaugh continually denounces him as a Marxist, and his vision for the church doesn't fit everyone inside and outside the church, who seek to emphasize the individualistic pursuit of wealth. In this week's edition of Sightings, Martin Marty again addresses the importance of Francis' call to action on the part of people of faith in the public square on behalf of those in need. Not only that, but Francis is challenging the very economic structures that the West, especially the United States, have embraced. Take a read, offer your thoughts.
