Problems on the Religious Right

Although Rudy continues to lead the GOP polls and Fred Thompson continues to flutter on the edges, waiting as long as possible to keep his Law and Order residuals coming in, it would appear that there is some disquiet on the Rightward Front. As reported on by Bob Allen on Ethics Daily, candidate Mike Huckabee is making noise about a possible third party run if the GOP candidate doesn't toe the line. I would expect that such a candidacy, though unwinnable, would draw away some religious right voters who are most concerned about making sure gays don't get married and abortion is banned.
Thus, religion remains a hot commodity in the 2008 electoral process!!!

Let's hope that Huckabee decides to make that move. It would probably create a landslide victory in the general election for any progressive candidate that gets the Democratic nomination. The Dems may need that extra edge given their ability to screw up a sure thing.
