Is it Primary Day?

I hear there's a primary going on today in West Virginia. But, as far as I can see, the only one contesting it is Hillary Clinton. It's expected she'll win in a landslide. But, that doesn't seem to matter at this point. Yes, it does seem to underline the fact that Hillary does well with older women, older folks in particular, and the less educated. That seems to define West Virginia. Obama is off campaigning in states that have already voted, Michigan and Missouri, working on November. My sense is that at the end of the day, she'll win big, make a big deal about it, and everyone will yawn. Remember, he won over 60% in places like Idaho and Utah. But for Hillary, it's her last chance to make a big splash -- but it's in a relatively small pond.

If Obama beats expectations, that's to his benefit. If not, well, there's always next week!
What is interesting to see is the level to which older women are holding on to Hillary's candidacy. That does seem to be one of the reasons she's been able to stay in this. Even in my own community some women were upset that Lois Capps, our congressional rep, came out for Obama -- even though Obama won Santa Barbara county handily. How dare she not endorse the woman running. Younger women, who understand that a woman will be president sooner than later, are not as desperate to see it happen now. Hillary has even used that argument for continuing -- that she can't let the women down.
But November will be historic either way. Is it more important that a woman or person of color be elected first? I don't think it matters either way -- for either way breaks the glass ceiling.
